One of many great finds this past National Stationery Show was this Brooklyn-based house of cards, named for one of my favorite elements of punctuation: Ümlaut Brooklyn.
With the tagline “Aiding and Abetting Real Communication,” this retro-inspire line describes itself as sometimes irreverent, sometimes naughty, always nice.
“We make cards that make people linger at the card racks, laughing out loud and passing cards back and forth to read,” designer Jocelyn Kirouac — who creates the range alongside husband Roland — told me. “We have cards for every occasion… and a few that you might not have thought of yet.”

They are dedicated using sustainable resources, and to that end, everything is designed & printed in Brooklyn, New York — they even have the silver certification to prove it!
