Nothing puts a spring in my step more than a fresh new card company popping into my in-box. That happened earlier this week, when Jennifer Gregoire of the L.A.-based Yeppie Paper wrote me.
Jennifer creates the hand-painted gouache illustrations that grace each card. “After studying Fine Art in college, I pursued other creative endeavors (most notably high-end residential interior design) before returning to my first love of painting and drawing,” she told me. “My brother Jim and I have always wanted to start a business together and decided that this was the perfect outlet to do so. He handles sales and operations, while I design each product and oversee everything visual. We come up with the ideas behind our cards together. From the start, our primary goal has been to offer greeting cards and paper goods that are thoughtful, well composed and different from the thousands of options already out there in the world.”
I would say they definitely succeed in that regard — but you can judge that for yourself below. Since launching in June 2014, they’ve released 60 designs and gained almost 50 wholesale accounts in the U.S. and Canada — and even one in Helsinki, Finland! “We’ve also participated in both the summer and holiday Renegade Craft Fairs in Los Angeles,” Jennifer told me. “We’re excited to continue on this path of creating more designs and expanding our wholesale reach to many more locations.”
So fun, right? All cards are blank with a single color logo on back, and most are A2 size (4¼” x 4½”). Everything is printed locally in Los Angeles and Yeppie only uses FSC-certified recycled paper and envelopes.
Meanwhile, I am so excited to be off for the next week or so, but never fear — The Paper Chronicles will be back the week of April 6. Until then, enjoy Spring everyone!
