This seems like the perfect day to start the occasional Throwback Thursday, Paper Chronicles-style, meaning, I’ll share some correspondence as opposed to a photograph. This is my family’s holiday card for the ’09 season, created by none other than inimitable Bonnie Marcus herself. I am a big believer in New Year’s cards — unlike other holidays, everyone observes it, and I always have a little extra time to get the cards out.

I fell in love with this collection as soon as I saw it. I adore the custom silhouettes and all the little dimensional glitter details along its front. At the time, I was relieved to be able to send a card depicting all of us without having to actually sit everyone down for a portrait.

Now though, it just makes me nostalgic for those tricycle years. At the time I braided my daughter’s hair in two braids every day, and she insisted that everything be blue — and this silhouette “looks” like her to me —  so in terms of representing her in that moment of time, this is as accurate as a photograph.
