Choosing to sit next to her for morning seminars was a wise decision — have you ever seen anyone take notes like this? Her philosophy is making art for joy’s sake — and to see it come to be in living color was beyond inspiring. Now Kristy has inked a deal with Schiffer Publishing. Not too surprisingly, the contract for one watercolor coloring book quickly turned into three — which means there’s three gorgeous Painterly Days to choose from: Woodland, Patterns and Flower. These luxe, foiled books are printed on super-thick paper, with each page double-sided so that it can be approached in different ways. Also included are a painting tutorial and a color wheel — plus Kristy divulges plenty of technical tips and advice for discovering the artist within.
“Where other coloring books are more about relaxation, Painterly Days is all about joy,” Kristy said. “Watercoloring for adults is meant to reclaim minutes lost to technology or just the generic crazy each day holds. Carving out time to put brush to paper can change perspectives and invite gratefulness and wonder into ordinary hours.”
I must admit I haven’t had a chance to try out mine (the mailing even included a little watercolor set), but it’s on the top of my list once production is over. With any luck I’ll be inking creations like these soon!
The books are available at Amazon for $18.05-$20.61 each (actual retail is $24.95), and they are also in stock at Books A Million and Barnes & Noble. You’ll never look at an adult coloring book the same way!
