There was a time — not too long ago, relatively speaking — when handmade cards were the order of the day in stationery. However, the trends pendulum has swung in the other direction, but every once in a while a fun handmade line like Heart Chalkra Cards crosses my path.

The undertaking “is the product of my creative greeting card writing journey,” artist Robyn Hucik told me. “I started out writing ecards and greeting card sentiments on a freelance basis and I got bit by the greeting card bug. After some time of trial and error I decided to venture out on my own and create Heart Chalkra Cards, which is a combination of wit, wordplay, and soul sparkle!  I’ve honed my captionista skills and it’s time to unleash my brand of creativity on the world and hope my ‘snark spark’ spreads love and smiles to the hearts of others.”

Robyn puts a lot of thought into her designs. Check out her “Mead Curtain,” a play on a bead curtain, in which embroidery thread, beads, paper clips, washi tape, and happy birthday tissue paper reveal a surprise birthday message. There’s even a mini-chalkboard inside.

I admit to being completely charmed by Mr. Elfis Paisley, however. Being a true handmade line, most of the designs are one of a kind. $10/pop, and you can shop them here.photo 2
