One of the missions of TPC is to keep people letter-writing, invitation-using and card-sending, but that can be a lofty task, even for me. When I have a pile of thank-yous to write (as I do right now), I’m thrilled if I can get one out per day — which is why I love the concept of the subscription box One-Per-Week.
Relatively speaking, the challenge it poses to stationeryistas is easy: ‘Can you write one letter per week?’ Subscribers receive everything they need to do so: a carefully curated selection of cards (four to five each month) that cover all the bases: birthday, thank you, blank, and something funny or a bit snarky.
“We strive to bring subscribers a variety of cards each month — from various vendors around the world … yes, around the world,” Creator Lori Chistensen told me. “We’ve stalked artists and illustrators, letterpress companies, screen print designers, and even young artists to provide just the right card for that month’s box.”
Each ensemble of cards arrives in a neat folder, along with an insert describing the companies within. New subscribers also get a pen tucked inside. “It’s our belief that good pens yield better penmanship and a desire to write more frequently,” Lori noted.
After all, a happy subscriber is a happy letter-writer. And, what goes around comes around in the mailbox. For that reason, “One-Per-Week believes in the element of surprise … think Cracker Jacks … as you’ll always get a ‘goodie’ in each box. Past boxes have included packs of hot chocolate mix, Pixie Sticks, and Juicy Fruit gum.”
Lori strives to keep each box fresh, fun, and unforgettable, and wants her customers to feel that this is the best subscription box they’ve ever gotten. And how better to celebrate my favorite season than with Box #15, Best of Summer, scheduled to ship the June 24. And, I’ve got a great peek!First up, a fabulous birthday card from Lucky Horse Press. Yum!Lori found this Scribbles of X card at the Renegade SF Craft Fair. The artist is just 13!
I’ve been grooving on the new E. Frances releases ever since they sent me a box, and this camper card below is part of the pack! New subscribers will also get the metallic silver pen by Pentel, and everyone will find some fun some summer surprises as well — as well as releases from Mr. Boddington’s Studio and R. Nichols. Each box is $25, or get a break when you prepay for a 3-month ($71) or 6-month ($71) subscription. Happy writing all, now if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a thank-you note to tackle!
