Today’s sweet palm-sized missive made its way to me from Toronto — from another Sarah, who, as you can read below, is definitely a fellow stationery lover.
Hi Sarah: Thank you for the work you do! I have always loved stationery and it is so nice to belong to a group that seems to enjoy it as much as I do!
I really like this thank-you card from Graphique de France. It has simple and clean lines yet is also elegant, classy and adorable in my opinion. I love the cute little golden elephant embossed onto the cream-textured card. I also appreciate the golden wit of “thanks a ton” — fun! In terms of symbolism, I think it is very interesting that according to the Chinese, the elephant is considered a symbol of:
All best wishes, Sarah T.
Thank you so much for writing in, Sarah! I agree the card is super-cute — and I actually have quite a collection of stationery imagery bearing elephants for Fresh Picks page in Stationery Trends I haven’t yet had a chance to run. I have actually also read somewhere that the upraised trunk especially symbolizes good luck.
Based on your love for icons, I think this Nantucket Pattern Collection from Reyn Paper Co is a good fit for you. They measure just a touch bigger than the note you sent. Offset printed with blind and gold foil embossing, the boxed set of 6 contains two each of anchor, helm and nautilus shell designs, all paired with red Euro envelopes.
Interestingly, the shell is associated with love and fertility — the Roman goddess of love Venus was said to first appear carried ashore from the sea atop a scallop shell. Talk about an entrance!
Anchors meanwhile symbolize hope and steadfastness.
And if you’re at the helm (especially a gold one), you’re definitely in charge!
I do hope you enjoy them Sarah! And thank you Reym Paper Co for letting me pass these along.
So, please write in to get some free swag for yourself. Just send me a letter, card or postcard on your favorite paper (which is most likely gathering dust) and tell me what makes it so. My address is: P.O. Box 22133, Beachwood, Ohio 44122. I will share it here, and then send you even more stationery. And if you are interested in being a sponsor, please reach out … I’d love to hear from you too!
