I am always sympathetic to a passion project — that is what this blog is, after all — but even more so when it concerns a controversial subject many shy away from taking a stand on. Feeling frustrated in the wake of yet another episode of gun violence, Emily Blistein, owner + creative Director of Clementine — and just as importantly, a mom — has invited designers to create cards celebrating love over fear using the powerful title Love Is Mightier. These postcards have been put into ten-card sets selling for just $10 — and 100% of the proceeds will go to support local anti-gun violence organizations.
The first full set is ready — and it is as visually compelling as it is heartfelt, featuring flat-printed and letterpressed selections from a really impressive group: Idlewild Co., Thimblepress, Happy Cactus Designs, Amy Heitman, Steel Petal Press, The Nic Studio, May Day Studio, Power & Light Press, Hartland Brooklyn and Printerette Press.
Rather than wax eloquent about how visually dazzling and thought-provoking I think they are, check them out for yourself!
These voices are so powerful — and a mesmerizing counterpoint to so much of the antagonism at our collective feet. You can pick up the entire set — again, just $10 — here, and add your voice to the effort by sharing what you send with the hashtag #loveismightier.
If you are a designer interested in donating a design, Emily is taking submissions through March — and if you are a retailer interested in carrying the cards, reach out to Emily to get them on your shelves!
