This is possibly the smallest note I’ve received yet. Sent from St. Louis, the envelope is decorated on front with a little row of hand-drawn flowers and sealed with washi tape in the back. The wee bunny in the hat is also on the adorable liner, along with several bigger bunnies (also dressed) and a cavalcade of mushrooms, acorns, carrots, beetles and tiny bugs.
Inside the even, tiny printing reads:
Dear Ms. Schwartz,
I heard about your lovely blog and magazine through Egg Press‘ Facebook post about your letter-writing campaign. I am currently a student at Washington University in St. Louis, studying communication design, and I have always been a fan of paper.
I am writing to you using an envelope & card set that I illustrated recently — the envelope liner is 1 of 3 coordinating patterns inspired by the woods surrounding my childhood home.
I would love to start my own stationery line, but for now, my work can be found at nicoleyen.com. Thank you for everything you do — as a young designer, your insightful writing is incredibly helpful!
Best, Nicole Yen
Thanks so much for writing in, Nicole! I absolutely love your work, and am thrilled that you shared it with me. Personally, I think you’ve got a great future in paper!
Perfect for your upcoming adventures in stationery, I am going to send you a box of ultra-luxe papers from Crane & Co.’s new Flights of Fancy collection. The 12 cards feature elegant two-pass engraved motifs on ecru kid finish paper. You can read a post on the entire collection here.
Thank you so much, Crane, for your generosity, and thanks Jessica for writing in!
I can’t tell a lie — it does take me a while to get letters up here, but I do want everyone reading this blog to participate! And, I’ve only gotten one postcard in my P.O. Box for the last few weeks, so while I still have plenty to share here, I would really love to hear from you.
Participating is so easy. Just send me a letter, card or postcard on your favorite paper and tell me what makes it so. My address is: P.O. Box 22133, Beachwood, Ohio 44122. I will share it here, and then send you even more stationery for your efforts. And to anyone else who is interested in donating, please reach out — I definitely want to hear from you too!
