I’ve got a new response and some goodies from Crane’s today. First, the letter. Printed on super heavy stock, it is written on gold pen inside to match the foil outside.
I love it all, but especially love new innovations like digital double-thick and digital metallic.
Turns out it is from Scott Feldman at StationeryHQ. Stationery Trends readers may recall StationeryHQ from a story in our spring issue, “Behind the Scenes,” that looks at the specialty printers that bring many a designer’s dream to life. Scott is referring to the digital double thick cards, introduced at last year’s National Stationery Show, and on which this note is written.
It is very luxe and takes foil and letterpress beautifully. Digital metallic papers have a sheen to them, StationeryHQ test-marketed these on Frecklebox.com over the holidays. These metallic papers look great paired with transparent inks, for example a light green ink on this paper will appear metallic.
Stationery HQ will be exhibiting at National Stationery Show, now a section of signature mix marketplace, in booths 2351-53. I am sure they will have many more amazing introductions!
Thank you so much Scott for writing in — and for your patience in my sharing your note. I’ve decided that the hand-engraved notes from Crane & Co.’s Explorers Collection are just the ticket for you. Created to commemorate the 450th anniversary of Galileo Galilei’s birthday, they are engraved in gold atop thick ecru card stock and paired with gold lustre envelopes.
If you love stationery and writing papers, please do write in. Crane & Co. is but one of several amazing sponsors that have recently come on board. To anyone else who is interested in donating, please reach out — I do want to hear from you!
