Holstee’s Mindful Art Subscription

During this past edition of NY NOW I was able to sneak away from LOUIE Award judging for a bit to visit a handful of booths, including Holstee.

I finally got to meet the company’s Dave, who I’d corresponded with but never met in person, and after the show I was pleasantly surprised to be gifted with a 6-month Mindful Art Subscription. For $7 a month, you receive a letterpressed card and stamped envelope. Holstee also recently added the option of giving the subscription to someone else as a 6- or 12-month gift.

But Holstee’s is so much more than just another card subscription. “We design the card specially each month to match the mindful theme we have at Holstee,” Dave told me. “We pair each theme with art, a creative prompt — and all that is complemented by the content on our online magazine Mindful Matter.”

I love having a month to really ponder a concept and how it applies to everyday life — not to mention pass it on — and my first card, the Holstee Manifesto, arrived last week. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s definitely worth investing a few minutes of your time. I must add that it reads even better letterpressed on 100% cotton paper with a recycled kraft envelope.

This card is the first every subscriber receives, but there is a plethora of product bearing its insight on Holstee’s site — journals and posters (framed & unframed), totes, even wall decals. The posters are also available in French and Spanish versions as well as on black and kraft papers, some with metallic inks.  Manifesto_products_wide_grande

Meanwhile, as 2015 marches on, so do the concepts. “January was all about intention, February was all about friendship, and March is all about flow!” Dave described.

Here’s a peek at those designs too.

Due to shipping costs, the service is only available in the U.S., and you can start and stop at any time. But even if you don’t try it out, do check out Mindful Matter — I really enjoyed this article on creative block, with sage advice from Ernest Hemingway and Amy Poehler.

Oh, and to make room for new designs, Holstee is currently having a big winter sale with 50% off many designs. You can shop it here!
