There is always a thrill attached to finding a brand-spanking new product — and it’s even better when it finds its way to me instead of my having to hunt it down. That happened earlier this week, when Matt Peterson, a New-York graphic designer, emailed me his new greeting card line.
Matt’s design and illustration work has been sold at Aéropostale, American Eagle Outfitters and Gap Kids, among other retailers — so you may have already shopped it. But his love of pattern, color and typography has also driven him to create greeting cards for as long as he can remember.
I just love these designs, they are both fun and funny. The mix of current slang with vintage imagery and vividly colored silhouettes distinguishes these, as does their engaging use of pattern and color.
You can shop them all at Matt’s brand-new Etsy shop, just opened on Christmas Eve. All cards are blank inside and can be used for a variety of occasions (or for no particular occasion at all). $4.75.
