There’s a lot to be said for the idea that if you don’t like something, stop complaining and change it yourself. Just ask Reese Witherspoon, who is making well-deserved headlines for her speech at the Glamour Woman of the Year awards. When she couldn’t find any good roles for women in Hollywood, she used her own money to start a production company, Pacific Standard Films. It’s already had two huge hits: Gone Girl and Wild. And, it’s only year one.
But if you’re going to upend the status quo, you have to be well-outfitted, and Witherspoon, no one-trick pony, has something for that as well. Named for her grandparents, Draper James is her Southern-accented lifestyle brand, and it’s just announced its first candle introduction.
Created in collaboration with the South Carolina-based Votivo, Orange Blossom Special is presented in elegant white glass with gold accents and stamped logo. I love the band around the top, subtle yet strong — just like any determined woman.
Meanwhile the fragrance itself is inspired by Reese’s grandmother’s orange blossom tree, and opens with clementine, petit grain and citrus zest, with orange blossom and water lily at its heart. Each candle is hand-wrapped in logo tissue paper and proudly made in the South. The box design also features crisp, classic gingham patterning, a signature Draper James design element. Shop it here or in Draper James’ flagship Nashville store, $42.
And stay tuned — apparently more fragrance introductions are in the works!
