I know a lot of TPC readers like nothing better than to hit up their local Paper Source. My town recently got a store, and it’s been heartwarming to see that even my 10-year-old is enamored of it!
Behind the scenes of this 33-year-old retail chain, however, Waste Not Paper (WNP) is Paper Source’s wholesale division, founded 15 years ago when Paper Source’s owner needed to buy raffia ribbon in bulk.
Any visitor to WNP’s National Stationery Show booth — this year they’ll be in #2050 — knows that their wares, hand-drawn by their Chicago design team, are not only gorgeous on the surface, but are created with a dedication to quality and sustainability, with the majority manufactured in the US.
With April being National Card & Letter-Writing month, I can’t think of a better way to get the creative correspondence juices flowing than with WNP’s range of solid cards, envelopes and paper. Let’s start with the envelopes, differentiated by their deep ‘v” flap and available in a wide range of shapes and sizes, from the petite 4bar envelope to the presentation envelope that holds an 8.5” x 11” sheet.Choose from an array of colors across several collections. The PS Collection features at least 30% post-consumer waste paper. The Luxe Collection is beautiful Italian paper that gets its rich texture from pressing the pulp into a sheet of felt during production. This process yields a softer touch and preserves the identity of a classical handmade paper — and makes it ideal for invitations, fine stationery and resumes.
Meanwhile, the Superfine Collection is the smooth finish answer to the Luxe papers, while the sophisticated Shimmer Collection features a pearlescent finish. WNP’s Savoy paper is made in France from 100% pure cotton, tree-free, biodegradable and renewable. This crisp, white paper is sophisticated with a subtle, toothy texture — and excellent for letterpressing. The cotton linters used to make Savoy are a byproduct from the textile industry and would have otherwise been discarded in a landfill. The entire line of solid cards, envelopes and paper is produced without elemental chlorine (PCF). WNP’s printers operate with reduced volatile organic compound (VOC) emission and recycle their ink waste. Processed chlorine free helps keep our watershed healthy, so the letters, cards and invitations created with this range make the world a more beautiful place in more ways than one!
