I have already blogged about the services A Fresh Bunch (AFB) offers — essentially, the team, led by Jenny Morgan, works with hand-picked design talent from around the globe to design artwork for apparel, textiles, home, stationery, office, gift and tableware products. Marrying technology and good old-fashioned curation, AFB makes it easy for buyers to choose — instead of search for — the right art for their products.
Jenny recently brought me a fascinating behind-the-scenes view of their magic in action. Earlier this year, Clairebella.com, now run and directed by a large software of company, came to AFB to refresh its collection. They wanted to update their patterns to reflect the trends and styles their customer is attracted to now. Their stylistic goal? A collection of patterns that looked like “J. Crew, Kate Spade and Anthropologie got together and had a baby.”
A Fresh Bunch immediately started creating mood boards, pulling inspiration for what they dubbed “preppy chic” — preppy with hints of bohemian and global elements that combine to create an effortless, modern mix of traditional and trendy.
“We were after patterns that had some depth and felt less flat than patterns often seen on personalized products — painterly, textured with an easy, breezy feeling of chic and sophistication,” Jenny explained.
With that settled, AFB’s 50+ designers got to work. The global bunch created a huge collection of “preppy chic” patterns in just a few weeks’ time. The client chose over 100, working with AFB to formulate additional color ways. “Four weeks after our first conversation, the client had an entirely new collection,” Jenny finished.
The end result is an amazing, cohesive collection of patterns that merchandise well together on Clairebella.com and, more importantly, mix and match beautifully in the customer’s home.
Wow! I guess I am that customer too — or I just became her — because I want it all! How fabulous is that pillow? And, it looks like Clairebella.com is currently offering 15% off site-wide through 12/8, woo-hoo!
Jenny also asked me to let TPC readers know that AFB is currently accepting applications from new designers! She’s specifically looking for those with experience in photo cards, gifts and/or wall art. So, if that sounds like you, apply here.
