I’m always thrilled when a smallish design house inks a deal with a big design house — and this is no exception. 1Canoe2 was founded in a Missouri barn in 2009 by childhood friends Carrie Shryock and Beth Snyder. It’s named for their years of dreaming up big ideas whilst floating down a spring-fed river in a canoe. One canoe, two girls.

The brand’s homey, hand-illustrated look quickly distinguished itself from the pack, and led to product in Anthropologie, Paper Source, Papyrus, Uncommon Goods — and more than 900 independent boutiques around the globe.

Now it has created three lovely calendars for 2016 with Workman Publishing, which operates a world away on Varick Street in Manhattan. Illustrated Flower brings a bit of the Missouri prairie to the desk all year, $12.99.

The quilt-like designs in Illustrated Pieces & Patterns features just that, in a color palette inspired by the big open Midwestern sky as well as its flora and fauna, $12.99.

Finally, Homegrown Goodness takes on any wall with 12 hand-painted months of bright, bold homespun inspiration. $14.99 gets you the calendar, 12 recipe cards and even a page-a-day digital calendar to bring the cozy comforts of home to your rather lifeless computer screen. $14.99.Homegrown copy
