Lively Design Studio is headed by Kelly Kirkland, the artist and designer behind the popular children’s stationery and gift brand Mayfly and Junebug Designs. The Austin native and mother of three launched Lively Design studio in early 2016 to expand her aesthetic into textiles, fashion, and home accessories.
“I began Mayfly and Junebug Designs over fifteen years ago, naming it after my first child who was born in May (I was born in June),” Kelly told me. “Well, that Mayfly has just graduated from high school and is headed into college, and I’m ready to take on something new! Mayfly and Junebug is classic and timeless and I love creating new children’s designs. But I also love so many different kinds of bright and colorful styles — preppy chic, bohemian, abstract, modern. I felt like, as an artist, I needed to break out of my comfort zone and start designing products that reflect my other design interests, too.”
